Energy Management In Australia

There are some interesting initiatives in energy management in Australia at present.  TRU energy which owns one of the largest power stations in Victoria has announced that it has stopped all long term maintenance and other power stations look like following.  Perhaps the time is coming for renewable energy to be fully supported by the government.

Alice Springs in central Australia is leading the push for solar energy with almost 10 per cent of homes using solar and energy efficient measures since March last year.
Solar hot water systems have generated the most interest. 175 systems have been installed in the last 15 months.

Households get a 10 to 20 per cent credit incentive on their power bill if they reduce their electricity consumption by 10 to 20 per cent.  Other popular measures include painting the roof white, installing low-energy lighting, installing or upgrading insulation and servicing existing solar hot water.

And green business is becoming popular.  The best way for business to become environmentally sustainable is by implementing ISO 14001
