Don’t the G8 understand basic goal setting?
Basic goal setting is about setting your big objective, defining a verifiable target, then breaking it down into intermediate goals and adding the resources you need to meet each deadline.
The G8 Leaders seem to have totally missed the first basic rule of goal setting and it looks more like a wish and a prayer. Ok they want to limit global warming temperature change to 2C and they have all agreed to reduce their emissions by 80% by 2050. So what are the interim targets for 2040, for 2030, for 2020 and for 2010? And HOW do they plan to do this?
Western countries merely buying carbon offsets or paying to continue polluting and raping the environment is what is really making 3rd world countries angry. In Ghana the majority of their wonderful rain forest has been cut down to sell timber to wealthy industrialised nations and this is continuing but now they are getting offset money paid to them to plant seedlings. Just explain to those people how a tiny seedling can replace a rainforest giant in the foreseeable future.
We need every business to be an environmentally sustainable green business and to develop good energy management. This is how to meet these targets
